Wonder Woods is our unique woodland nursery, at Harburn nr. West Calder. It is for 2 ½ year olds to school age and is rooted in nature, as West Lothian’s first fully woodland nursery. We are now enrolling and taking bookings for 2021. To help you make an informed choice about Wonder Woods, there are lots of links to information, videos and photos on this page. Follow us on Facebook for latest updates, photos and information.
We spend our days exploring and having adventures, as we play in and around the woodland, engage with nature, enjoy the campfire, and experience the tranquility of our natural world. For a flavour, see our photo gallery on the right.
If you are not sure whether an outdoor setting is right for your child, please see this video from Inspiring Scotland.
“Everyone has made our son feel safe and nurtured from the start: his testimony is that you are definitely doing things right! He is definitely more confident. He is more observant when we walk in the woods and he will point out birds, mushrooms and different leaves. Things he never used to do. There is nothing we would change.”
EVERYONE is entitled to up to 30 hours per week of funded childcare and you can choose to use this in your local Council nursery or with Wonder Woods, which is a partnership nursery with West Lothian Council. You can therefore use your free allocation of funded childcare hours for your child to enjoy and have adventures in our woods and have experiences like nowhere else. Or, if your child is already using their funded allocation at another nursery, you can always buy an additional half day or two at Wonder Woods each week, to complement their experiences. Contact us for more information on how to arrange a visit or enrol.
