Free Childcare!

14 October 2020

We are delighted to announce that we are now a partnership nursery with West Lothian Council. This means that you can now use your free allocation of childcare hours for your child to enjoy and have adventures in the woods. You can choose to book 3 full days or to split your placement with your traditional nursery and utilise Wonder Woods for a session or two every week.

Maree Todd, Minister for Children and Young People in Scotland, congratulated everyone associated with Wonder Woods on its recent opening, adding that she was so pleased to see a facility like this, in this part of Scotland. She said it was great to see the children preparing food, splashing in puddles, playing and having lots of fun in the woods. The Minister went on to state that outdoor nurseries, like Wonder Woods, show children, from an early age, that being outdoors is fun and it’s an exciting place to be. She confirmed that playing and learning outdoors helps to improve wellbeing, helps to build resilience and mental development.

Raymond Branton, CEO of Simply Play, stated “We are all delighted to realise our long-time vision to open a fully outdoor nursery in West Lothian. We all know how inspiring the outdoors is at any age, but especially in the informative early years. As the Minister said, it is the best learning environment for children. It is even more important in these difficult times, as being outdoors is the safest place to be and nature has the power to refresh and heal us.”
