Simply Play was formed in 2010, following extensive consultation, planning and design, in partnership with West Lothian Council and independent out of school projects. It was created to be a professionally run, charitable enterprise, to take over the provision of out of school and holiday childcare, across West Lothian.
Simply Play ensures that essential childcare provision continues to support working families across West Lothian and it aims to be the best value provider within every community.
The enterprise continues to address need for new services, in areas of unmet demand, to reduce the pressure on working/studying parents and enable them to be economically active – all of which is a key contribution to improving people’s lives and supporting the economy.
Simply Play’s success to date has been well documented: we were awarded a National Care Accolade in 2012, by the Scottish Social Services Council, for demonstrating exceptional achievement and excellence; were recognised by Social Enterprise Scotland in 2013, winning their Innovation category; and our CEO was nominated for Social Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2014 Scottish Business Awards.
Our biggest measure of success, however, is the feedback that we receive from our parents, children and staff, with excellent testimonials – all of which is backed up by steadily improving Care Inspectorate feedback and grades and growing clubs.
